On 31th of May, we have performanced an event on Business and Human Rights: How to integrate human rights in your organization. The goal of the workshop was to raise awareness and provide practical advice to Spanish big companies in the implementation of the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
In order to that, two workshop were carried out: one focused on due diligence and another one based on the implementation of mechanisms to give solutions to people who have been victims of impacts.
The dynamics caught the eye of the companies and facilitated the debate around how many of them were currently tackling the 2 steps.
The second objective was to encourage dialogue and to exchange best practices between companies, in specific BBVA and Repsol, which contributed with their knowledge and practical experience on the subject.
BBVA explained the recent process that they have carried out in due diligence, in relation to all their activities and projects, countries in which they operate and stakeholders. Repsol, explained the different mechanisms they have internally, with special emphasis on those used in operations that impact on indigenous people.
