#COMPANIES4SDGs, a campaign promoted by the Spanish Network of the Global Compact, Volunteering and Strategy, has just received the IMPACT2030 Innovation Award. The recognition has been announced at the IMPACT2030 Summit, which is being held in New York, at the United Nations headquarters from 5th to 7th of September. #COMPANIES4SDGs promotes the SDGs in the corporate sphere through internal communication and corporate volunteering actions and is about to begin its second edition.
The IMPACT2030 Innovation Awards seek to recognize the members of the IMPACT2030 network – a group of the private sector that, in collaboration with the United Nations, articulates corporate volunteering to achieve the SDGs – for their innovative approaches to involve employee volunteers and design corporate volunteer programs capable of advancing in the achievement of the SDGs.
The results of the first year of #COMPANIES4SDGSs have been presented in the framework of the IMPACT2030 Summit, and its figures has demonstrated the success of this pioneering initiative in the world: since October 2017, close to 23,000 volunteers have been involved in almost 1,500 aligned activities with the SDGs.
A total of 38 companies have included the 2030 Agenda in their internal communication channels, so that more than 345,000 employees in 19 countries already know the SDGs. In addition, some of these companies are also sharing the project with more than 3.5 million customers and other interest groups.
#COMPANIES4SDGs has also contributed to sensitize the Spanish population around the SDGs thanks to the collaboration of ATRESMEDIA. From October 2017 to July 2018, the group has spread the campaign’s spot through its communication platforms. Thanks to these actions, the campaign has reached more than 32 million people, 73.8% of the Spanish population, through television and more than 5.7 million people through a radio slot.
This recognition is added to the one obtained the last February in Bonn (Germany). The campaign was selected as finalist of the UN SDG Action Awards in the ‘Communicator’ category, awards that recognize the most outstanding and innovative efforts to inspire actions about the SDGs.
Everything is ready to start the second year of the campaign
The next October a new stage of the campaign will start to continue promoting corporate volunteer activities aligned with the SDGs. In this second stage, we will invite you to take action from a more personal approach through real success stories in order to motivate and educate employees so that they adopt responsible attitudes in their daily life, such as donating blood or doing physical exercise.
