Network Spain is celebrating it 15º Anniversary this year. The event was held at the headquarters of the Spanish Olympic Committee which, under the slogan «15 years of leadership in sustainability». Alejandro Blanco, President of the Spanish Olympic Committee and Ángel Pes, President of the Network Spain, were in charge of opening the event.
Then, José Luis Retolaza, professor of economics at Deusto Business School, gave a speech on the importance of the SDGs as a driving force for change. After him, Félix Poza, Director of Sustainable Development of INDITEX, spoke about business leaders as accelerators of change and, for his part, Clara Arpa, CEO of Arpa and Iballa Ruano, ten times world champion in windsurfing and champion in paddle surfing 2018, continued with their speeches, both focused on the exhibition of their experiences as inspiring leaders. Cristina Gallach, High Commissioner for the Agenda 2030 of the Government of Spain, closed the event with a few words that have valued the efficient work of the Spanish Network and that of Spanish companies in the face of the urgent challenges of 2030 Agenda.
Throughout these 15 years of history, the Spanish Network has evolved in the models and tools oriented to its training work to respond to the new needs of the signatory entities. Progress has also been made in the definition of new models of conversation between different interest groups, to the point of orienting actions towards the creation of public-private spaces for dialogue on sustainable development.
In addition, various guides have been published to help companies in their application of the ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the SDGs.
